Lake Myers
We made our own sign for our campsite
Sunday morning, the day of our departure, was as sunny as I felt. We were finally getting on the road! It took us a while to get going, but by lunchtime we were driving down the road, Cleo hitched up behind us.
Mia and I in Phoenix with Cleo hitched up behind us!When we got to the campground, the roads were narrow and the campsite very difficult to navigate into, but my dad did an amazing job and we began to set up. We leveled Cleo, unhitched Phoenix, put down the jacks, and put out the slides. That afternoon, Mia and I had a great time riding our bikes down the hill that went past our campsite.
Our first dinner in Cleo was black beans, rice, and avocado; which is one of my favorite meals. It felt really great sitting together at dinner in our little camper.
The next day, Mia and I rode bikes with our dad (my mom's front tire was flat and needed to be replaced) around the campground, checking out the rental cabins, pool, and playground. Then we headed back to Cleo to get some schoolwork, and, in my dad's case, maintenance for Cleo done. Tuesday we went to Winston-Salem, prepared for a busy day. While I went to school and then met a friend for lunch, my parents sold our car; and though we were a little sad to see it go, it was good to have the extra money as a buffer. We didn't get back home until about six o'clock, but we had gotten a lot done and I had enjoyed the day.
My mom made cornbread in her air fryer and it was delicious!

Hurricane Ida gave us rain Tuesday and Wednesday, so we made a trip to the library; which Mia and I were both happy about. Thursday was dry so we went swimming. Mia and I made friends with other camper kids and played together for hours. But Friday morning wasn't quite as warm as Thursday had been. In fact, it was below sixty degrees by nine A.M. So I put on warmer clothes, and my family and I joined various neighbors outside to watch a tree crew cut down a nearby tree. We connected well with the neighbors, and everyone made us feel very welcome.

When we pulled up, one of our neighbors came over to say hi, and with her she had a little Yorkie named Paris. Mia was thrilled to see Paris, because one of her things to accomplish was to see a Yorkie. Sunday afternoon, when Mia and I were riding bikes, we saw a cat near one of our neighbors campers. Both Mia and I had 'See an RV kitty' on our list, so we were able to check that off.
Our first week RV-ing has been great. I've done stuff I love, met good people, and had wonderful times with my family. After this first week in Lake Myers, I've already lowered my screen time and TV-time, because now I am riding bikes, swimming, and spending time with fellow campers instead.
This past week, I've become very busy with schoolwork, chores, and, obviously, exploring and traveling; so I made the decision to start posting every other week. So just check in every other Friday for a new post!
Big thanks to my mom for helping proofread my blog posts and emailing me pictures for posts! You're the best.
